I think above all, one has to bow to Guillermo Arriaga, the writer, as "21 Grams" features probably the best script I've ever seen. I guess the story itself is not that new, but the way how it's done is simply excellent. The first, say, 30 minutes are just scraps- moments in the lives of the three main characters that mean absolutely nothing to the viewer (yet). Adding to that initial confusion is the fact that these scraps are not in temporal order so that in the beginning personally I wasn't sure I'd be able to follow- it was more like a music video that's just not making any sense at all. But then the pieces begin to come together just beautifully until in the end you can see the whole picture. Usually in these episode movies everything comes together at once somewhere in the middle of the film, but in "21 Grams" the viewer puts the pieces together one after another- like a jigsaw puzzle, and every bit as satisfying when everything's completed. This truly is a masterpiece script-wise, and I've never seen anything like it.
That brilliant script is supported by excellent actors. Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Benicio del Toro are delivering the most convincing acting performance I've ever witnessed. Like when Christina (Watts) screams at Paul (Penn) trying to get rid of all of her anger, frustration, grief and hate: I usually think these emotional outbursts don't seem real on screen, but in this movie it is just deeply touching. I haven't seen "Mystic River" yet, but if Sean Penn was as good as he is in "21 Grams" then the Oscar finally really went to someone who truly deserved it. And Benicio del Toro really is every inch the wonderful actor his reputation claims (I saw him for the first time but had heard a lot of him before, so I was very curious).

watch borat online
I say this as a die-hard Monty Python fan – not because the humour is on the same level or follows the same guidelines (in fact, the common ground is here is that it follows no guidelines) – but because both comedy teams mask their sketches in a feature film, passing them off as a story when it becomes glaringly clear that the latter is an elaborate pretext under which to have outrageous, absurdist and side-splittingly fun in a series of genius gags.
Yet for all of Borat's subsequent disorganisation and warped narrative, we are first served a gorgeously condensed introduction to our character in his village in Kazakhstan. This segment was possibly the biggest crowd-pleaser in my theatre and perhaps rightly so, for I would call it the film's goldmine in terms of sheer laugh-out-loud humour. Here we are introduced to Borat's sister ("She is number-four prostitute in whole of Kazakhstan."), whom he kisses on the mouth, his main interests (ping-pong, sunbathing and "watch ladies make toilet") as well as a wide variety of hilarious native Kazakhs. Undoubtedly the success of the introduction stems from a combination of novelty and a culture shock.
Once the sprawling surge of Kazakhstani culture subsides, Borat flies to New York City to make a movie-film about the glorious US and A. The booming Russian ethnic score melts into Harry Nilsson's "Everybody's Talking' At Me" and the film gets ambitious: it spoofs Jon Voight's incongruous cowboy character walking down Manhattan in Midnight Cowboy (1969). This I found a pleasant surprise, but the referential spoofs end here and the rest is all Sascha Baron Cohen – and we couldn't be happier.
The second half of Borat is arguably less compelling. It is hard to tell why, for the humour remains consistently good and there is an almost exponential stupidity with our Borat character as the sets out to go to California to marry Pamela Anderson. I would not go as far as to say the novelty "wears off", but we are a little more settled now and Borat has found his safe footing. Next, however, the film totally floors whatever safeness you may have with one of the most unspeakably graphic hotel room scenes I have ever seen. I won't give anything away, but rest assured that some viewers (*males*) will watch in horrified silence while others will literally cramp up from laughing so violently. I belong more to the latter category.
As Borat travels through America, there is a wealth of juxtapositions to be found when he interacts with the people – members of the white house, television broadcasters, etiquette teachers, Christian fundamentalists and Jews – all offers layered hilarity and a consistent cloud of laughter kept hovering in the air. Sadly, it was not always directed toward Borat (but most of the time) but toward some truly idiotic hick Americans. When I was informed the film used many candid takes, I can only hope the unreasonably creepy Jesus convention was *not* one of them.
In conclusion, "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)" is a towering comedy achievement. It is apparent that Sascha Baron Cohen has done something truly cool here and has created an anti-semitic, misogynist and bigoted character that aptly embodies all racy taboos. As an actor he is unmistakably brave and uninhibited, which makes it easy for the film to lose itself in a tornado of gags, spoofs, bizarre one-liners and graphic jokes. The most fun I've had in a theatre since...forever!!!

watch or download stomp the yard movie online
Reguardless of the other votes and forums I've read about this flick.. Firstly I don't think its racist why its gotten bad ratings... and heres why... Firstly I am white, not that it should matter.. Movie idea was unoriginal.. and in my opinion that effected ppls ratings on this movie.. They couldn't see past the idea that it was not a NEW IDEA.... blah blah blah. People are just watching the movies to be entertained and if they've seen something similar there not entertained where as there's the few of us out there that can appreciate great acting and with this movie its exactly that.. I really enjoyed drumline.. Possibly because I was a drummer in school but I've also enjoyed quite a few of "dance movies" even enjoyed them enough to buy on DVD.. This movie Stomp The Yard.. I DO intend to buy on DVD as soon as its available.. I do recommend seeing this movie regardless of what the few other ppl have rated this movie on.. I feel it unfairly got a bad IMDb rating because it was not original.. Hope this helps

When there is Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor.. you expect a really good comedy movie and I am no exception in it. I went for the movie with a great hope and was expecting something like No Entry (Previous movie of the same director - Anees Bazmee) but sadly the movie was nowhere near No Entry.

Just seven years ago, a movie with Aamir Khan, Deepak Tijori, and a fairly new actress (Ayesha Jhulka) and music by Jatin-Lalit released. The result: Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. This year, the same pair of actors and music director combine with Ranee Mukherjee to come up with Ghulam. A song even resembles the fabulous "Pelha Nasha" of seven years ago, but the movie doesn't resemble JJWS… not even a little bit.
Violence and rage is the name of this movie, with a short love story twisted somewhere in the middle. Siddharth (Aamir Khan) is a Mumbai tapori, a boxing champion. His brother, Jai, makes money through a former boxing champion who now rules the community through terrorizing people and stealing money from innocent merchants. Siddharth saw his father's death when he was a child; this mentally effected him throughout his life. His father's words remained with him, though he had only been with his father for a little while. Siddharth meets a young woman, Ayesha (Ranee Mukherjee) who rides with a motorcycle gang and Charlie (Deepak Tijori). This is a flavor for some comedy and a brilliant scene in which Siddharth is running towards a train and as the train is only a few feet away he jumps out of the way.
Siddharth and Ayesha meet for the first time and fall in love, and the typical love story follows. Siddharth meets another person who reminds him of his father, Hari. He learns a bit more from this man of wisdom and helps him in his truth. How he does this and the how the message of Hari and his father is carried out should be witnessed in the movie.
Overall, the movie bores at times and excites at times. Aamir Khan is terrific. His emotions are more dramatic and exciting than any other actor in the industry, today. It's too bad that the movie was not as exciting as his acting. Ranee Mukherjee does a good job, and her acting has improved dramatically since her debut in Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat. All the other actors perform brilliantly, but the movie doesn't come to the actor's standards. The songs are perfect for the movie, even Aamir Khan's "Aati Kya Khandala" works perfect with the movie. The one thing that is lacking in this movie is direction. The use of a better director would have created a better movie. The same could have been said for Fareb, Vikram Bhatt's last direction venture, in which the acting was brilliant (for newcomers Milind Gunaji, Faraaz Khan, and Suman Ranganathran) and the direction was below par.

Dia (Madhuri Dixit) grew up in the town of Shamli where she learned to dance from Makarand (Darshan Zariwala). During her learning she met an American, Steve, whom she falls in love with. Her parents find out and arrange her marriage, but instead Dia elopes with Steve. After nearly a decade, an unexpected phone call shakes Dia (Madhuri Dixit) out of her dance rehearsal in New York. Makarand (Darshan Zariwala), her teacher, is dying and she must return to Shamli town. During the phone call she reveals that she also had a child, who is now eight years old, with Steve. Dia arrives too late and her guru passes on to the town where she grew up, the town where she learnt to live,to dance,Also the town she left on an impulse, severing ties with her parents and her people.
It is a poignant and troubled return; not only has her guru passed away but the institution that he so lovingly nurtured is in decay and under threat of demolition. Ajanta theatre, the once vibrant hub of the community, the place where Dia’s fondest memories are embedded must now be brought down because the local political authorities feel it a waste of prime real estate. With the help of Doctor (Raghubir Yadav), the caretaker of Ajanta, Dia sets out on a mission to prevent the destruction and resurrect the spirit of Ajanta. In an atmosphere of mistrust, ridicule and active hostility, Dia picks up the gauntlet and agrees to achieve the near impossible task of putting together a theatrical production. She must also ensure that every member of the production is from Shamli town. She has only two months to prove her point or the bulldozers will be waiting.
In this context begins her tumultuous journey of dealing with small town prejudices, encountering the resentment of the powerful contractor, the cynicism of the local political powers, resolve the delicate tensions of inter personal relationships and rally her motley team of non starters - a low level muscle Imran (Kunal Kapoor), the local tomboy Anokhi (Konkona Sen Sharma), local ex-MLA Chaudhary Om Singh (Akhilendra Mishra), a vulnerable tea stall owner Mohan Sharma (Ranvir Shorey), a responsible government official Mr. Chojar (Vinay Pathak), a struggling insurance agent Sanjeev Mehta (Jugal Hansraj), the town vagabond Dhankuber (Nowaz) and a host of others. She must create in this chaos in order to save Ajanta… in order to preserve what her guru so lovingly nurtured. She must create art in order to preserve what she believes is the soul of society. The stage is finally set… Will it work? Won’t it?
